KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Strategy 

  • Outline marketing strategy to meet business aims
  • Build and manage the marketing calendar 
  • Implement overall creative messaging in line with the brand strategy
  • Act as brand guardian, adhering to the brand guidelines, monitoring usage internally & externally 
  • Oversee and update all brand assets and touch points (website, social, comms, packaging, livery)

Product Development

  • Work alongside Upper Management in the creative direction of seasonal collections
  • Introduce the categories including homewares and accessories
  • Initiate, manage and promote creative collaborations 

B2C Comms 

  • Oversee the general website content and copy and manage the web agency
  • Plan and manage CRM via digital comms – e.g. Email newsletters 
  • Oversee the design, production & distribution of seasonal marketing collateral 
  • Advertising – secure barter/contra deals and oversee design and submission of ad artwork 
  • Manage an external agency handling PPC, SEO & affiliate marketing 

Social Media 

  • Build and continually evaluate the social media strategy 
  • Manage content planning, production & posting 
  • Maintain a consistent visual aesthetic and tone of voice
  • Initiate partnerships and product placement 
  • Oversee reporting and growth

Content 

  • Oversee production of all product imagery
  • Ideate and produce all seasonal campaign imagery and video assets 
  • Commission editorial content for the website journal and other comms
  • Manage distribution of content internally and externally 

Events & Partnerships 

  • Contribute to the creative direction of events
  • Take part in the prospecting of new clients 
  • Secure event contra deals with marketing or PR value
  • Nurture advantageous partnerships and alignments for promotional purposes and brand positioning 
  • Curate a network of unofficial brand associations 

PR 

  • Identify key targets & build advantageous relationships 
  • Manage outreach to editors by writing and distributing press releases to sell-in collections, news and interviews with Paul
  • Report coverage 
  • Organise or take part in showcases 

Reporting 

  • Set objectives and KPIs with Upper Management 
  • Analyse ROI against companywide P&L 
  • Use learnings to inform future planning 

THE CANDIDATE MUST

  • Be an skilled marketer with experience of managing the full marketing mix
  • A background in floristry or the luxury lifestyle space is preferable 
  • Have a proactive and enthusiastic approach to relationship management, including an ability to manage various stakeholders and have a thorough understanding and capability to drive growth and engagement
  • Possess exceptional communication skills and be highly confident in client-facing situations, excellent at people management, multitasking and prioritising
  • Be ambitious with strong direction and determination, with an eye for detail and consistency

JOB DESCRIPTION

Paul Thomas Flowers is looking to appoint a highly experienced Events and Weddings Manager to join our friendly team on a full time, fixed term contract for 8 months starting from 1st June 2021.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of London’s leading florists, managing events within the UK and internationally. As part of the management team, the successful candidate will work closely alongside Founder & Creative Director Paul Thomas-Jeffreys in creating and delivering exceptional floral designs for a multitude of HNW clients, top venues and leading events companies.

THE ROLE

The Events and Weddings Manager at Paul Thomas Flowers will be the first point of contact for all clients looking to hold an event. They will be responsible for the planning and logistics of bringing each event together, from initial meeting through to event completion. Responsibilities will include:

  • Dealing with all enquiries from telephone and email to client meetings and site visits 
  • End-to-end client liaison from start through to project completion
  • Identifying new business opportunities and targeting potential clients including event and wedding planners, caterers, venues, hotels and corporates. Prior experience of this and having existing relationships with notable clients within the event industry is key.
  • Project managing tenders for the supply of flowers to top London venues
  • Designing concepts for each wedding or event according to the brief, and creating detailed and inspirational proposals to a high standard
  • Managing P&L for the Events department and working to client budgets whilst meeting the business’s target profit margins
  • Calculating the volumes of flowers and foliage required, ordering and buying from the flower market and from Dutch suppliers
  • Complete event organisation and administration, from creating schedules and job sheets through to managing events onsite and ensuring they run smoothly and to schedule
  • Coordinating staffing and logistics for all events, including booking freelance florists and logistical support, additional vehicles, and submitting security details when required
  • Liaising with venues and event companies to ensure the team has all necessary information including PLI certification, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Creating the floral designs, which will range from simple bud vases and buttonholes through to dramatic urns and centrepieces
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with all clients, keeping in touch on a regular basis 
  • Ensuring the impeccable standards and iconic Paul Thomas style are reflected in every event

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 3 years’ experience within the floral and events industry
  • Must possess an excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Will be comfortable with taking responsibility for managing teams and projects
  • Will need to possess first class IT skills and understanding of Microsoft Office programmes, as a large part of this role will be creating proposals and visuals for our clients
  • Will possess a genuine passion for floristry and the energy to tackle every event, large or small, with enthusiasm
  • Will have a strong grasp of the commercial side of the floristry industry 
  • Ideally, the candidate will hold a full UK driving licence and be happy to drive vans on occasion
  • The successful candidate should be happy with early starts and willing to work at the weekend and on projects abroad

The role is a standard 42.5 hour working week, with additional week and weekend hours when required (paid overtime). Highly competitive salary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing and overseeing a team creating the floral installations for weekly contracts, working to client briefs and budgets.
  • Calculating the volumes of flowers and foliage required on a weekly basis, ordering and buying them from wholesalers and adhering to target profit margins.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with all weekly contract clients, keeping in touch on a regular basis and conducting quarterly business reviews. 
  • Identifying new business opportunities securing new clients – organising and attending site visits, producing visual proposals and quotes, whilst maintaining profit margins and providing a competitive service. Following up with potential clients and securing weekly contracts.
  • Scheduling all relevant staffing and logistics for weekly delivery and maintenance rounds. 
  • Managing P&L for the Weekly Flowers department ensuring margins remain in line with company targets.
  • Bringing in new contracts business on a regular basis is a key aspect of this role. As a part of this, you will be expected to work on business development strategy, contribute to the production of marketing collateral and work on new business tenders.
  • The overseeing of the team organising the production of Christmas contract installations as well as managing the staffing and logistics for these installations (and subsequent clears). 
  • Organising regular photo shoots of contract work to produce collateral that can be used for the website, in proposals and tenders, on social media and for general marketing purposes.

THE CANDIDATE MUST

  • Be an experienced florist and manager with a background in providing corporate and high-end floristry, possessing a strong grasp of commercial floristry
  • Have a proactive and enthusiastic approach to relationship management, including an ability to manage key accounts and have a thorough understanding and capability to drive revenue growth in contracts and manage clients.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills and be highly confident in client-facing situations, excellent at people management, multitasking and prioritising.
  • Be ambitious with strong direction and determination, with an eye for detail and consistency.
  • Have a good head for logistics.
  • Ideally have a full clean driver’s licence and be happy to drive vans in Central London.
