Flowers have always been the very best way to express our love and gratitude. No more so than on Mothering Sunday.

This year it falls on Sunday, 14th March. Mother’s Day 2020 was the very last day before we all went into the first national lockdown. Little did we know then that a year on we would be back in the same position. Never have our mothers deserved our love, gratitude and appreciation more than now.

To celebrate the diversity of motherhood, we have created a series of short films using photos from our own family albums, overlaid with details of some of the beautiful flowers from our Spring Collection. The nostalgic, kaleidoscopic effect came from the idea of taking people on a trip down memory lane to happier times in lieu of being with our mothers in person this year.

The short films encourage us all to take a moment to pay tribute to all the hardworking mothers who, in addition to their usual efforts, are home teaching too. Then of course there are the mums who are key workers on the frontline, working tirelessly to keep us all safe and well. We think also of mothers who are inaccessible to their families whether through distance or in care homes. This is the day for us to say thank you and a beautiful bouquet, a little posy or a plant can say it better than any words.

As well as being a day of celebration and thanksgiving, Mothering Sunday can also be a difficult day for many. For some it is more of a day to remember. Remembering mums who we may have lost or who themselves have lost loved ones. My thoughts often go to those who, for whatever reason, would have loved to be parents but were unable to be.

In every circumstance nothing conveys our love like flowers, whether a grand gesture or a tiny posy. Do have a browse through our beautiful Spring Collection which can be delivered anywhere in the UK, with standard delivery included. Let us make sure we show that love and appreciation this year.
